Does my website have a shelf life?

We love loaded questions like these because there are so many different factors that go into this.
The short answer? Yes.

The long answer? Yes, your website indeed has a “shelf life” to it. Most branding or design firms will tell you that it is a good rule of thumb that every 1 1/2 – 2 1/2 years it is wise to have your website completely redesigned.

Now here comes the “loaded” part of that question. Not all websites are created equal, so not all designs need to follow that so-called rule of thumb. Some websites could be built using a type of content management system, some could be custom coded, and others could be a combination of both. At WebLeaps we offer 2 types of websites. The first option is a custom website that we build from the ground up. The other option is a WordPress website that uses a template that we can tweak and cater to our clients wants and needs. Depending on what type of website you have, your website redesign timeline may change.

At WebLeaps, we deal with a lot of smaller “Ma and Pa” businesses that we can justify adding some more time to that redesign timeframe, but there are many other factors to take into consideration as well. These factors include: Website code / language / foundation / framework, security, appearance, functionality, and more. Much like how every season there is a new fashion style – the technology world moves just as quickly, if not quicker!

Even if your website looks and runs and feels amazing – unless you know for sure it is generating you business, it may be time to contact us to discuss a redesign.

We are happy to help discuss this with you, and are here to answer any questions that you may have.
