If you are like most people, then lately your inbox has been full of spam emails. While you can’t stop spam completely, you can make it much harder for unwanted emails to reach your inbox. We want to give you a few quick tips to help you.
SPAM TIPS:
1 – Do not click links or open attachments from unknown senders.
2 – Mark spam as Spam/Junk instead of simply deleting it.
3 – Avoid posting your email address publicly online.
4 – Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication (2FA).
5 – Be cautious when signing up for newsletters or online accounts.
6 – Keep your email and devices updated with the latest security patches.
7 – Don’t unsubscribe by clicking a link; that could be the bait to receive more spam. Just mark it as spam.
8 – Never reply to what you believe is a spam sender.
9 – Consider installing antivirus software to help detect spam and malicious emails.
10 – Be sure to review your spam folder; sometimes legitimate emails end up there.
11 – Consider using a different email for online shopping, newsletters, and other promotional lists.
12 – Use a different mail program. We recommend using Mozilla Thunderbird for security and filtering.
These are some basic but essential tips. A few good habits can go a long way in keeping your inbox cleaner and your information safer.
It is important to remember that there is no foolproof way to completely stop spam, phishing, or malicious emails. The best defense is to stay alert, be cautious, and know what to look for before clicking. We hope these tips help you better protect yourself and your information.
